On May 13, 2023, the second China Light Aircraft Championship opened at Wanfeng General Airport in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, with 16 teams from across the country participating. Teams from Starair Technology, Jiangsu Yahwa General Aviation, and Xinjiang Aviation Association piloted Starair SA60L aircraft, forming the "Aurora Brothers." They not only competed for excellent results but also showcased the charm of the national brand light sport aircraft.
This national light aircraft championship followed international conventions, featuring two events: navigation flight and precision landing. The precision landing event included one powered landing and one unpowered landing, with the goal being to land as close to the zero-point line as possible. This tested the pilots' skills in executing precise landings using different methods. The navigation flight event required pilots to take off without using any modern electronic navigation equipment, relying on traditional paper maps and compasses for visual flight, which strongly tested the pilots' fundamental skills.
In this championship, three of the nine aircraft used were Starair SA60L planes, highlighting the "born for sport" attribute of the Aurora aircraft. Reflecting on 2019, at the first China Light Aircraft Championship, Starair Technology's team matched "good horses with good saddles," winning the championship. With the current championship in full swing, the "Aurora Brothers," under the control of elite pilots, are sure to make a significant mark in this competition!
Best wishes for the success of this event!
