On October 12, a live-fire forest-firefighting drill was held at Dawang Mountain Resort in Changsha. Centered on fire suppression for complex mountain-forest scenarios, the SAT120SA-40 water-spraying Tethered UAV Fire Truck developed by Starair made its appearance, demonstrating practical air-ground coordinated firefighting capabilities.

The drill simulated a hillside fire to replicate common challenges of mountain-forest fires: early-stage concealed blazes and terrain barriers that prevent ground rescue teams from getting close to ignition sources.

Taking off directly from the vehicle’s rooftop platform, the tethered UAV performs long-span oblique flight. It flies out of the truck’s vertical operating airspace and travels long distances to hover above hillside fire points. The UAV accurately pinpoints fire sources and continuously ejects fire-suppressant agents.

Featuring an integrated vehicle-mounted power-supply and liquid-supply tether system, this equipment addresses the pain points of conventional firefighting UAVs, namely short flight endurance and limited payload of fire-fighting agents, enabling prolonged hovering operations in the air. It integrates multiple functions including high-definition fire reconnaissance, real-time video feedback, and high-pressure water or foam fire suppression.
