Recently, the preliminary acceptance review for the heavy-lift tethered firefighting UAV project for high-rise buildings independently developed by Starair was successfully completed in Zhuzhou under the organization of Hunan Provincial Department of Emergency Management. Evaluation work was jointly carried out by officials from the department, Changsha Special Fire and Rescue Detachment and an expert panel from relevant industries, marking a key national key R&D achievement entering a new phase of practical application.

Supported by the "Unveiling the List and Taking Charge of Research Tasks" special program under the 14th Five-Year National Key R&D Plan initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the project targets prominent pain points in high-rise building fire rescue. It has overcome multiple industry bottlenecks plaguing conventional firefighting equipment including limited operating height, insufficient load capacity, short endurance and slow emergency deployment, filling the gap in high-altitude fire-fighting and rescue equipment via independent core technologies.

Field test results verified the outstanding comprehensive performance of Starair’s UAV: it can climb to an operating altitude of over 200 meters with a maximum payload exceeding 350 kilograms, sustain continuous operation for more than four hours, and complete full deployment from standby to takeoff within merely four minutes. All technical specifications fully satisfy the practical demands of fire suppression and emergency rescue for ultra-high-rise urban buildings.

The acceptance inspection was conducted in strict accordance with procurement specifications, industrial technical standards and contractual clauses. The expert panel conducted all-round assessments covering design specifications, manufacturing craftsmanship and practical performance through document review, on-site flight demonstration, functional testing and technical parameter verification. The equipment operated stably and reliably in core test items with all indicators meeting required standards, thus passing the preliminary acceptance. While affirming the product’s innovative and practical value, the expert team put forward targeted suggestions for follow-up upgrading to facilitate subsequent delivery and practical firefighting deployment.

This acceptance constitutes a milestone for the first set of Starair’s heavy-lift tethered firefighting UAV to realize commercial acceptance, as well as a crucial step translating low-altitude emergency technological advances into real-world fire rescue capacity. Once put into service, the equipment will effectively shore up Hunan’s shortcomings in high-rise fire rescue and boost the overall upgrading of the provincial emergency rescue system.

Going forward, Starair will further deepen its layout in the R&D of intelligent low-altitude firefighting equipment, scale up investment in core technology development and continuously upgrade product performance based on real combat feedback. The company will accelerate the nationwide promotion of its UAV products across diverse disaster scenarios, reinforce urban fire safety with technological innovation and homegrown high-end equipment, advance the modernization of fire safety governance for ultra-high-rise buildings nationwide, and safeguard people’s lives and property across cities.
