On June 24, the "Emergency Mission·2025" high-rise fire rescue drill, jointly organized by China’s National Committee for Disaster Reduction and the State Council’s Work Safety Committee, was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong. Starair’s "Star Shield" tethered drone fire truck—a fully autonomous aerial firefighting system—served as the primary asset for suppressing fires on ultra-high-rise building facades. Combining "vehicle-drone integration" with "sustained high-altitude fire suppression," the "Star Shield" delivers a groundbreaking "Chinese solution" to this global challenge, marking a major leap in firefighting technology.
The drill simulated an electrical fire on the 15th floor of a skyscraper, which rapidly spread to the 34th floor, creating multiple fire zones and trapping occupants. Conventional ladder trucks, limited to 100 meters, were ineffective. The "Star Shield" responded instantly, deploying in just 3 minutes. Its drone launched from the vehicle, targeting fires between 100 meters and the 34th floor (151 meters) with precision-guided compressed air foam, while adaptive nozzles adjusted angles for continuous suppression. Simultaneously, it coordinated with ground units to establish an "air-ground synergy" firefighting network.
Developed under the leadership of Chief Expert Professor He Qinghua as part of a national key R&D project, the "Star Shield" integrates cutting-edge innovations:
· Ultra-light carbon fiber airframe supporting a 350kg payload.
· Tethered power, fluid supply, and data transmission for unlimited flight time.
· Redundant flight control, 6-level wind resistance, and IP54 rating for extreme conditions.
· AI-assisted vehicle-drone coordination to streamline operations.
· Compact urban design requiring no stabilizers for rapid deployment.
· Dual foam/water modes, reaching 200+ meters with a 30-meter effective range.
Proven in real-world drills across Shenzhen, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Changsha, and Zhuzhou, the "Star Shield" has earned widespread praise for its speed, altitude performance, and unmatched reliability.
During the exercise, the "Star Shield" teamed up with glass-breaching drones and quadruped robots, demonstrating a seamless "detect-strike-rescue" tech-powered workflow.
